Romans 12:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrafices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship.

The Truth about New Years Resolutions

So here we are at the end of the year.  We turn the page from 2011 to 2012.  We will never have another 2011 and for some of us that is just fine.  But how many of us want to do 2012 totally different? I know I do and yet like the previous umpteen years we get caught up in the "New Years Resolution" game?  With promises and vows to do better than we did, and then find ourselves falling short.  Well my dear friends, I would like to share a bit of truth and knowledge with you.  Truth is, New Years Resolutions don't work!!! Period.  The knowledge is this:  it takes 21 days to create a habit. And, we all have a tendency to set goals for ourselves that we expect to achieve in record time without a realistic and "Merciful" game plan. I dont know about you, but I have had a tendency to cheat on "Diets" after just a few days and then find that the habit I have developed is a habit of cheating or not following the plan to the"T" and then find that the results are not as I had hoped them to be and then I just quit.  Hence, another truth..."Diets" don't work.  What works is eating reasonably.  Fruits, Vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, nuts & seeds, no fried foods, fast foods, or fat foods.   And calories in/calories out.
So now, create a realistic plan that works for you.  You know what you like to eat. You know what it is that you are eating too much of that you shouldn't be eating.  You know when to stop eating(if you pay attention your body will tell you).  Replace the simple carbs(anything white, rice, flour. bread) with brown; ie, whole wheat, oat, bulgar, barley etc.  Drink water when you think you are hungry.  Establish set times of day to eat and bring a healthy snack if you think you won't be home in time for your meals.  Eating at home saves money and calories.  Always eat breakfast...ALWAYS!!!  Breakfast revs up your metabolism.  Plan on 4 meals a day ...breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner.  I can do this, and I can take it one day at a time.  God's mercies are new every day and he asks us to have self control and perserverence.  2 Peter 1:5-6  asks  us to make every effort to add to our faith 7 things but 3 in particular stand out in refernece to this topic and they are: knowledge, self-control and perserverence.  I think that if I make an effort to learn and apply knowledge make an effort to exercise self-control with my eating plan and put forth my best effort in perservering towards the goal I will have access to success.!!!  Game On!!
Lord, I thank you for your word and I ask you to give us knowledge.  I thank you that your mercy for us is renewed every day and that through you we gain strength.  In Jesus name, AMEN!
